Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer
Robert Polak, Founder and Chief Investment Officer, has over twenty-three years of industry experience of which twenty-one have been on the buy side. Prior to founding Anchor Bolt Capital, Robert was a portfolio manager at Citadel Investment Group where he ran the Global Industrials business for five years (February 2005 to April 2010). At Citadel, he built and led a team that at its peak consisted of 13 people including 10 investment professionals. Over his tenure, he managed assets that approximated $3.0 billion. Prior to Citadel, Robert worked as a buy side analyst at Copper Arch Capital in New York and NWQ Investment Management in Los Angeles where he primarily followed industrial and energy-related companies. Robert began his career in investment banking in 1995 at Salomon Brothers. Robert holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics from UCLA where he was a Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Cum Laude.
Chief Financial Officer
Sean Stephens, Chief Financial Officer, was previously the Chief Financial Officer at Aragon Global Management, LLC for five years (January 2006 to July 2011) during which time he oversaw all non-investment related items. At Aragon, he was chiefly responsible for all financial reporting and NAV calculation. In addition, Sean led the operations, human resources, investor relations, and marketing efforts of the Firm. Prior to Aragon, Sean worked as a senior financial analyst for PepsiCo Chicago where he reported to the Chief Financial Officer. Sean began his career in the Investment Management Division of Morgan Stanley & Co. Sean holds an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Finance from Rutgers University where he graduated with Highest Honors. Sean is a Certified Public Accountant.
Director of Research and Analyst - Capital Goods and Transports
Paritosh Batra, Director of Research and Analyst, joined Anchor Bolt at its inception and has nearly fifteen years of investing experience on the buy side, all focused in the Industrials Sector. Prior to joining Anchor Bolt, Paritosh was an analyst at SAC Capital in New York focused on the Capital Goods and Transportation Sectors. Prior to SAC, Paritosh worked with Robert Polak at Citadel Investment Group for five years and helped to manage the Capital Goods Portfolio. Paritosh has also held roles at Morgan Stanley and Alderman & Company. Paritosh holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from NYU Stern School of Business where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Stern Scholars Program as well as the recipient of the Honor Key and the Stern Hall of Fame.
Alex Burnes, Portfolio Associate, joined Anchor Bolt in 2018 after obtaining his MBA from Columbia University, where he graduated from the Value Investing Program. Prior to earning his MBA, Alex worked for Nomura in New York as a senior equity research analyst covering the North and South American metals & mining sector. Alex started his career in Hong Kong as a proprietary trader at Lehman Brothers and Nomura. Alex holds a BA in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University.
Arpan Patel, Portfolio Associate, joined Anchor Bolt in 2018 from J. Goldman & Co., where he was an energy analyst covering U.S. oil and gas E&P’s. Prior to J. Goldman & Co., Arpan was a Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs, where he helped a senior research analyst initiate coverage on 15 companies in the SMID oil and gas E&P sector. He also spent two years in investment banking at BMO Capital Markets, covering the Healthcare sector. Arpan holds a BS in Business Administration and Finance from Georgetown University.
Analyst - Europe
Michael DiNapoli, Analyst, joined Anchor Bolt in 2016 from Point72 Asset Management and has over a decade of buy side investment experience, all focused on the Industrials Sector. Prior to Point72, Michael was an Analyst at Plural Investments and an Associate at Citadel Investment Group, where he worked with Robert Polak for two and one half years on the Global Industrials Portfolio. Michael holds a BS in Finance, Information Systems and International Business from NYU’s Stern School of Business where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named a University Honors Scholar. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Stern Honors Program.
Analyst - Capital Goods
Ravi Jani, Analyst, rejoined Anchor Bolt in 2019 after previously working as a long/short equity analyst at BlueMountain Capital Management in New York. From 2014-2018 Ravi was a portfolio associate at Anchor Bolt. Prior to this Ravi was an equity research analyst covering industrial stocks for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Ravi began his career as an investment banking analyst and associate at Moelis & Company and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Ravi holds a BS in Finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Analyst - Energy
Michael Shillman, Analyst, joined Anchor Bolt in 2017 from Raveneur Investment Group and has twelve years of buy side investment experience, with a significant focus on the Energy Sector. Prior to Raveneur, Michael was an Analyst at SkyTop Capital and JANA Partners. Michael has held roles at CCMP Capital, a leveraged buyout and growth equity firm, and began his career at Morgan Stanley, in the Investment Banking division. Michael holds a BA in Economics from Duke University.
Analyst - Transports & Energy
Michael Burley, CFA, Analyst, joined Anchor Bolt in 2014 upon graduating from NYU’s Stern School of Business with an MBA in Finance and Strategy. While at Stern, Michael spent time as an equity research analyst at Fidelity Investments and Kane Street Capital Management. Prior to Stern, Michael spent four years as a generalist equity analyst at Century Capital Management. Michael is a CFA charterholder and holds a BS in Corporate Finance & Accounting from Bentley University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Gajendra Sidana, Portfolio Associate, joined Anchor Bolt in 2016 from the Oil & Gas Investment Banking Group at J. P. Morgan where he advised public and private Oil & Gas clients on a wide range of M&A and capital markets transactions. Previously, Gajendra spent five years working at Royal Dutch Shell in multiple roles extending across operations, consulting and plant design in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Gajendra holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India.
Matthew Amos, Portfolio Associate, joined Anchor Bolt in 2018 from Elliott Advisors (UK) Limited, where he was an analyst covering a broad investment mandate in their situational investing team. Matthew began his career as an analyst, then associate, at Morgan Stanley in their investment banking division in London and Dubai. He graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Economics.
Dzhuni Astor, Portfolio Associate, joined Anchor Bolt in 2018 after completing his MBA at Columbia University, and following an internship at Anchor Bolt in the summer of 2017. Dzhuni started his career at Goldman Sachs in equity research, where he was a part of their CEEMEA Basic Materials Team. He also has spent time in private equity at Baring Vostok Capital Partners, where he covered the mining, infrastructure and industrial sectors in Russia and FSU. Dzhuni holds a MS in Financial Markets and a BS in Economics from The Higher School of Economics in Moscow.
Tyler Flaker, CFA, Trader, joined Anchor Bolt in 2014. Tyler was previously in Ernst & Young LLP’s Assurance Practice for three years where he served asset management clients in an audit capacity. Tyler also served in Ernst & Young’s national office where he performed accounting policy research and disclosure analysis in the financial services space. Tyler is a CFA charterholder and holds a BS and an MA in Accountancy from the University of Missouri where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
John Boyle, CPA, Controller, was previously in Ernst & Young LLP’s Financial Services Tax practice for more than two years. During this time, John primarily served clients in the hedge fund and private equity space. John holds a BS in Accounting from Creighton University where he graduated with honors and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Katie Wojtena, Office Manager, has over five years of experience providing administrative support and oversight. Prior to joining Anchor Bolt, Katie was the Office Manager at RoundKeep Capital Advisors for two years. During her time at RoundKeep, Katie’s responsibilities evolved and included Research Assistant, Investor Coordinator, and Personal Assistant to the CIO and Founder.
Kelsey Ford, Administrative Assistant, has two years of experience providing administrative support and managing client relationships. Most recently, Kelsey was the Office Assistant and Interim Executive Assistant at private equity firm, Flexpoint Ford. Kelsey’s responsibilities included travel coordination, calendar management, and client support.
Head of Investor Relations & Marketing
Robert Schwab, CAIA, Head of Investor Relations and Marketing, joined Anchor Bolt in 2017. Robert has over eleven years of industry experience and joined Anchor Bolt from Och-Ziff Capital Management where he was a member of the Investor Relations & Marketing team. Previously, Robert was an associate at Hatteras Funds and also spent time at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Putnam Investments. Robert is a CAIA charterholder and holds a BA in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross.
